De Skaftafell à Hafrafell

View from the Skaftafell plateau in Iceland to the Hafrafell plateau across the Skaftafellsjökull glacier. I believe the waterfall seen in the distance is in the Svarthamradalur valley. For scale, the glacier is over 2 kilometers wide, and at that point we are about 300 meters (1000 feet) above the glacier.
The tick moss you can see in the center of the picture is very common in Iceland as far as I can tell. It can be seen covering large areas from Route 1. It turns sharp volcanic rocks into soft looking globulous shapes. It’s really amazing, and I wish I had taken time to photograph it.
