Crane Party

Origami Crane Stringing Party: After Lafayette College Theater produced the play A Thousand Cranes the college donated the 1000 origami cranes folded for the production to David Heard, a 10-year-old College Hill resident suffering from Neuroblastoma, a serious cancer. David decided to try to get together 5000 cranes, one set of 1000 for every hospital where he’s been treated. A Japanese legend says 1000 cranes can grant a wish. The original cranes are now at Lehigh Valley Hospital, and when a local newspaper’s story about David’s quest went viral, cranes started pouring in from all over the country! Lafayette Student Athletes, College Theater students and members of SMAC and Wishmakers and the general public work on this project in the Kirby Sports Center 3rd floor lobby.
