Find your 5km fit at the Boxer Super Run

23 August 2023 by My Durban

The Boxer Super Run will create an unforgettable experience for all participants on Sunday 15 October 2023 when it floods the streets of Durban with waves of 5km excitement.

“The 5km distance is a global favourite for various reasons,” says Lee-Ann Pillay, Boxer Superstores Head of Department: Marketing. “The popularity can be attributed to its accessibility, health benefits, social aspects, and its ability to cater to a diverse range of participants, from elite runners to casual joggers and those looking for a starting point in the world of running. Adding to the appeal of the 5km distance, the Boxer Super Run lets participants select their optimal starting wave based on their running background. Runners can choose to enter one of two waves: the Open Wave or the Super Social Wave. The 5km action will close off with a super-fast Elite Men’s Wave and an Elite Women’s Wave.”

“Catering for the more serious runner, the Open Wave will start a little earlier at 07:00,” confirms Pillay. “This wave is perfect for club runners, schools and anyone that is looking to test themselves and possibly improve on their PB. Runners that are, however attracted to the social side of the sport, will enjoy the later start of the Super Social Wave. Time is not of the essence when you enter this wave, look forward to enjoying an exciting day out with family, friends and/or co-workers. Instead of PBs show us your flair for fashion by dressing up and bringing the vibe.
Irrespective of the wave that you choose, there is no cut off time, you just need to finish with a smile.”

Pillay further comments: “Anticipation is soaring as the Elite Men’s and Elite Women’s Waves prepare for an exhilarating showdown, where South Africa’s foremost athletes will vie for the prestigious titles of King and Queen at the debut of the Boxer Super Run. Adding an extra layer of intrigue, the question lingers: ‘Could this event be the stage for a new South African 5km record?’ We extend a warm invitation to all runners in the Open and Super Social Waves to remain at the event post-race to support the Elites. You just might get to witness history in the making. We invite all runners to enter today to be part of the unique experience that is set to redefine the running scene in Durban.”
