FIDELITY SERVICES CLUB RUGBY – Featured Durban Blog

26 May 2021 by Alan

FIDELITY SERVICES CLUB RUGBY:

Vox Crusaders hosting the eighth Flya KZNRU Knockout competition managed to secure a well earned victory over Varsity College to take the title for the first time, since its inception in 2013, last Friday evening.

Saders looked a lot more focused and determined than they did last week against SA Home Loans Durban Collegians outscoring VC by three tries to one

in their 35-10 convincing win over their Durban North neighbors. One thing is for certain one can never go on scores from previous games especially after VC beat College Rovers last week and Crusaders didn’t look that convincing in beating Durban Collegians in a kickoff after extra time had run its course. Last Friday evening was a completely different story altogether with Crusaders winning points coming by way of tries by their German International wing Nikolai Klewinghaus, center Kyle Theron and Gopolang Molefe with scrumhalf Josh Fourie successful with three conversions and four penalties.

In the opening game College Rovers looked like a completely different side with flyhalf Inny Radebe the catalyst in creating space for his dangerous backs to operate. Rovers ended up scoring seven tries to three in their 49-26 victory march with center Bushy Mthethwa crossing for two, wing Alvin Brandt, flank Sibulele Nanto,  scrumhalf Zee Mkhabla, fullback Quan Eymann and wing Tythan Adams. Radebe did the rest with his trusty boot.

Collegians with eight regular First XV players missing managed to come back strongly in the second half with tries going to  Gerhard Mostert, Siphesihle Mngadi  and Duncan Campbell who also kicked two conversions and two penalties.

Mthethwa’s second try and try by Klewinghas were adjudged the two best tries on the evening.

In the other games Varsity College beat Crusaders Second XV 19-15 and Rovers second stringers beat Collegians   33-19.
