Fast Facts About the Lepas L4

30 August 2026 by My Durban

Lepas L4 product highlights

The Lepas L4 is the brand’s compact SUV offering in South Africa, positioned as an accessible entry point into the Lepas range. Available in three derivatives — Amur, Javan and Pantera — the L4 combines compact SUV practicality with distinctive styling, a generous equipment list and the backing of a comprehensive aftersales package.

Pricing starts at R299,900 for the L4 Amur, moving to R369,900 for the L4 Javan and R419,900 for the range-topping L4 Pantera.

Exterior design

The Lepas L4 brings a bold, confident look to the compact SUV segment, with design details that reflect the brand’s feline-inspired styling approach. Its proportions are clean and contemporary, with an overall length of 4 406 mm, width of 1 820 mm and height of 1 635 mm, giving it a strong road presence without compromising everyday usability.

All derivatives feature LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, a high-level brake light, body-coloured door handles, a rear spoiler and electrically adjustable side mirrors with integrated turn indicators.

The entry-level Amur is fitted with halogen headlights and 16-inch wheels, while the Javan and Pantera upgrade to LED headlights and 17-inch wheels. The Pantera adds further visual and lifestyle appeal with load-bearing roof rails.

Performance and efficiency

The L4 range is offered with two powertrain configurations, depending on the derivative.

The L4 Amur is powered by a naturally aspirated 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with a five-speed manual transmission. It produces 80 kW at 6 300 r/min and 148 N.m of torque at 4,900 r/min, offering straightforward, efficient performance for daily driving.

The Javan and Pantera derivatives receive a turbocharged 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with a six-speed dual-clutch transmission. This raises outputs to 108 kW at 5 500 r/min and 225 N.m of torque between 2 000 and 4 000 r/min, providing stronger mid-range performance and a more effortless drive.

All derivatives feature a 51-litre fuel tank and meet Euro 6B emissions standards. The Amur records a combined fuel consumption figure of 6.9 L/100 km, while the Javan and Pantera are rated at 7.0 L/100 km. Unbraked towing mass is 750 kg across the range.

Practicality

The L4’s compact footprint is balanced by useful everyday space. A 2,700 mm wheelbase helps create a roomy cabin, while the boot offers 458 litres of luggage capacity with the rear seats in place.

For larger items, the second-row seatbacks fold in a 60/40 split, expanding total cargo capacity to 1,284 litres. Ground clearance is listed at 160 mm, giving the L4 the added versatility expected of a compact SUV.

Interior and comfort features

Inside, the L4 focuses on comfort, usability and a clean, modern cabin layout. All derivatives feature a four-way manually adjustable steering wheel, 60/40 split-folding rear seats and a driver’s seat with six-way adjustment. The Amur and Javan are fitted with leather-fabric combination seats, while the Pantera upgrades to faux leather upholstery.

The Pantera also adds a six-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, front seat ventilation for the seat cushion and backrest, and an electric sunroof, giving the flagship derivative a more upmarket cabin feel.

Technology

The L4 offers a strong technology package across the range, with clear differentiation between derivatives. The Amur is fitted with an 8-inch segment display cluster and a 9.9-inch infotainment touchscreen with rear-view camera display. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a four-speaker audio system are standard.

The Javan upgrades to a 13.2-inch infotainment touchscreen with rear-view display and adds wireless charging, while retaining Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and a four-speaker sound system. The Pantera builds further on this with a 13.2-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless charging, voice control and a six-speaker audio system.

Safety

All L4 derivatives come equipped with safety and driver-assistance features, including ISOFIX child-seat anchors, dual front airbags, front side airbags, mechanical child safety locks, an engine immobiliser and vehicle body anti-theft protection. The Amur and Javan include a rear-view camera with dynamic guide lines, rear parking sensors, central locking and auto locking. The Javan also adds front parking sensors.

All models are fitted with front ventilated disc brakes, rear disc brakes, an electric parking brake, ABS, EBD, ESP, traction control, hill-start assist, hill descent control and an indirect tyre-pressure monitoring system.

The Pantera adds side curtain airbags and a 540-degree HD surround-view camera system. It also gains a more extensive ADAS package, including adaptive cruise control, integrated cruise assist, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, emergency lane keeping, lane departure prevention, front collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, traffic jam assist, intelligent headlight control, blind-spot detection, lane change assist, rear cross-traffic alert, rear cross-traffic braking, door open warning, rear collision warning and fatigue detection.

Service and warranty

The Lepas L4 range is sold with:

A five-year/150,000 km vehicle warranty
A five-year/75,000 km service plan
A 10-year/1,000,000 km engine warranty for the first owner

DCT-equipped models are also supported by two-year Lepas Care for the first owner.
