Extension of Cornubia Road Linkage Contract

2 April 2014 by Alan

The eThekwini EXCO has agreed to extend the contract to fund the critical link road between the Cornubia Integrated Human Settlement Development and the Industrial Park.

This is to ensure that the residents who have occupied the completed 482 houses are able to access employment opportunities from their residential areas to the nearby Industrial Park.

This is in keeping with the integrated nature of the project which is key to making this a sustainable human settlement development.

City Manager Sibusiso Sithole said additional funding was made available by the Department of Human Settlements and with employment at the doorstep to unemployed residents the implementation of this infrastructure was urgent.

“This road linkage has to be done as quickly as possible, because it is being built for the people of Cornubia so that they can get easy access from the residential component of Phase 1A to the Industrial Park,” he said.

The value of this project is R71 567 033.89.
