To improve the level of literacy in the City and stay true to the commitment of being a smart City, eThekwini Municipality is currently constructing a Central Library worth R497m which will serve not only as a hub of information, but a space for social cohesion where members of the public can interact and share ideas.
To be part of this historic development, members of the public will be able to view the progress of the construction site as it reaches various stages. This will be made possible by a high-tech construction viewing site and exhibition kiosk which has been placed at the site. Members of the community can visit this kiosk to find out more about the development of the site and what features they can look forward to seeing at the library after its completion. The kiosk will also serve as a mini-library as reading material such as newspapers and magazines will be available for patrons to keep up with the news of the day.
