Life is a Garden: It’s been a while since I updated you on the goings-on in the garden – last time I mentioned we’d visited a great nursery up the hill and it was the start of summer, so planting was high on the agenda and getting a veggie patch sorted out was a top priority. I’m delighted to say we planted lettuce, spinach, rosemary, tomatoes, peppers, mint, thyme and loads of lavender and all of them grew so well and saved us a fortune in weekly trips to buy fresh produce! In the last few months I’ve visited Illovo Nursery down the South Coast, Assagay Garden Centre up the hill and Hingham Nursery in Glen Anil in Durban. They are all amazing nurseries and well worth spending a morning at – their tea gardens are awesome too. I was at Hingham most recently and really enjoyed the vibrant aloe and succulent section, which has recently been celebrated as part of a festival which ends this week – there are some great specials on these plants too, so if you’re looking to spruce up your garden with some indigenous plants, that hardly need watering, now is the time to visit!
