Dalvui estate was carved out of the Mount Noorat property in 1880 and was run by one of Niel Blacks sons after his father’s death. Niel Black the younger had a magnificent second two storey house built on the property in 1908 although the garden was designed and laid out by William Guilfoyle earlier in 1898. Niel Black the younger was the organist of the Noorat Presbyterian Church. In 1909 he was one of the ill-fated passengers on the Waratah ship which disappeared off Durban, South Africa. The Niel Black Memorial Hall in Noorat is thus a memorial to Niel the younger and not his father the founding settler. In 1911 the property was sold off for closer settlement and Dalvui was left with around 600 acres. Neville Palmer purchased the homestead and stayed there until 1941. The current owners are Mr and Mrs Habersberger. The Guilfoyle garden is considered to be one of his best which complements the Edwardian Tudor mansion built by Niel Black the younger to the design of architects Beverley Ussher and Kemp of Melbourne.
