An attentive crowd at the Africa Pavillion of COP 17. The seminar drew environmental ministers from the Central African Republic and Burundi. Case studies were presented from the rain forests RED+ project in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The strategy involves making fundamental development choices through forest management, strong political leadership and community empowerment. ‘The RED+ strategies have to be part of national strategies and indigenous people must be part of the process.’
