Dominant Dolphins claim memorable win over Titans in Durban – Featured Durban Blog

Dominant Dolphins claim memorable win over Titans in Durban:

The Hollywoodbets Dolphins claimed a remarkable six wicket victory over CSA T20 Challenge table-toppers, Multiply Titans at Sahara Stadium Kingsmead in Durban on Wednesday, 30 November.

2016delo500Despite having battled for consistency throughout their opening six matches of the competition, the KZN franchise – themselves third on the log coming into the match – played a brave brand of cricket against their more fancied opponents from Centurion and their execution was on point for much of the night.

After Titans captain, Albie Morkel won the toss and opted to bat first, the Dolphins’ bowlers performed admirably for the first ten overs with the ball to restrict the visitors to 67/3 at the halfway point of their innings.

A disappointing effort with the ball in the second half of the Titans’ innings together with a good knock by Farhaan Behardien (72* off 40 balls) and chip-ins from Heino Kuhn (30 off 29 balls), Morkel (29* off 22 balls) and Jonathan Vandiar (21 off 15 balls) though saw the visitors post 170/4 in their 20 overs.

After a steady start saw the Dolphins reach 28/0 after four overs, Morné van Wyk and Cameron Delport changed gears in the fifth over and despite the skipper’s demise for 27 off 20 balls, his opening partner continued on his merry way as he blasted 62 off 33 runs (6×4, 3×6) to give the home side the impetus they needed in their pursuit of their target of 171.

While former England international Kevin Pietersen fell for just 5 and the run rate fell ever so slightly after his departure, Cody Chetty continued his good run of form and was well supported by Khaya Zondo (26 off 23 balls) as they took their team to within reach of victory.

The dangerous Frylinck knocked it around en route to 12 not out off 10 balls before the in-form Chetty (29 off 28 balls) fittingly hit the winning runs to take his team across the line and claim four valuable log points.

The Hollywoodbets Dolphins’ next encounter sees them square off against the BuildNat Cape Cobras in the second clash of Sunday, 4 December’s double header at Sahara Stadium Kingsmead.

The Dolphins vs. Cobras clash gets underway at 14h30 and is preceded by an interesting contest between the bizhub Highveld Lions and the Warriors at 10h00.

Fans can get their tickets from the stadium’s ticket office or via www.ticketpro.co.za.
