Dolphins & Titans share points – Featured Durban Blog

12 April 2019 by My Durban

Dolphins & Titans share points:

Durban – The Hollywoodbets Dolphins and the Multiply Titans shared points in their CSA T20 Challenge match at Willowmore Park Benoni when it was rained out without a ball being bowled on Friday evening.

The Dolphins are on a two-game away stretch and will now travel to Cape Town to take on the WSB Cape Cobras on Sunday.

Whirlwind weekend ahead for Dolphins:

Durban – A disappointing CSA T20 Challenge loss on Wednesday evening for the Hollywoodbets Dolphins can quickly be put right when they embark on a two-game tour with matches against the Multiply Titans in Benoni on Friday and the WSB Cape Cobras on Sunday in Cape Town.

The Dolphins went down to the bizhub Highveld Lions by 18 runs in their second match of the campaign and will have the chance to get back to winning ways on the road.

The Titans are their first opponents and the men from the capital got a good bonus point win over the Cobras in Benoni on Wednesday.

A return to form for veteran Morné van Wyk will be encouraging for the Dolphins ahead of the trip to the Highveld. The experienced batsman scored 44 effortless runs in vain as the Dolphins fell short of the target on Wednesday.

The 40-year-old is happy that he is contributing to the side.

“I have felt pretty good this season I just feel that I need to get some time in the middle,” Van Wyk said.

“I am happy to get the opportunity to go out there up front and I was happy that I could give us some impetuous and momentum at the start on Wednesday.

“T20 is a format that I enjoy playing and I am looking forward to the rest of the competition.”

With such a busy schedule and the games coming thick and fast, Van Wyk believes there is still time for the side to get into their stride properly.

“It’s still early in the competition and it’s a good time to learn the lessons that we did on Wednesday rather than later in the campaign.

“We still have time to get the right combinations together to execute our game plan the best,” he added.

With three games in the next six days, the schedule is jam-packed but with the games being fast-paced and short, the quick turnaround is not a problem.

“Look, to be honest, T20 cricket isn’t too taxing on the body,” he explained. “For me, the best thing would be to get on the road and keep on playing.

“We knew that this is what we were going to encounter so the prep work is done, it’s now just a case of going out there and playing good cricket.”

The Dolphins will still be without the services of Proteas all-rounder Andile Phehlukwayo who is recovering from a foot injury.

The star player has been back at training for the Dolphins and his return is expected sooner rather than later.

The squad that has been announced will do battle in Benoni and then will travel to Cape Town for the match on Sunday.
