Dolphins prepare for trio of T20 tussles – Featured Durban Blog

22 November 2016 by Alan

Dolphins prepare for trio of T20 tussles:

The Hollywoodbets Dolphins have three important CSA T20 Challenge assignments away from home ahead of them this week, starting with a clash with the BuildNat Cape Cobras at PPC Newlands in Cape Town on Wednesday evening.

2016grantmorgshs500Their loss to the Multiply Titans in Bloemfontein on Sunday sees the Dolphins in fourth place on the competition’s log as they face a busy next five days as outings against the VKB Knights and bizhub Highveld Lions on Friday and Sunday respectively follow their Cobras contest.

Head coach Grant Morgan was disappointed that his charges didn’t make better use of the chances they created against the Titans on the weekend but is looking forward to the opportunity the upcoming matches present.

“We had opportunities to put the Titans under pressure on Sunday and keep them on the ropes but unfortunately we didn’t do that,” says Morgan.

“That’s done now though and looking forward, we want to do better.”

While injuries to Andile Phehlukwayo (crotch), Sarel Erwee (finger), Divan van Wyk (finger), Calvin Savage (side strain), Daryn Dupavillon (foot) and Daryn Smit (shoulder), amongst others, have plagued the KZN Franchise’s T20 charge, Morgan’s team is looking to use that to their favour as best they can in the coming three games.

“We’ve got seven players unavailable for selection and obviously Kevin Pietersen aside, it has been a bit frustrating not being able to put the same side out on the park from one game to another.

“The squad is however still in a really good place and in a way that has also galvanized our guys as they know that they’ve got an extended run; hopefully they can take some confidence from that.”

With Rabian Engelbrecht fit again and available for selection after back spasms ruled him out of Sunday’s Titans clash, Morgan will carefully consider the balance of the team chosen to take on the Cobras on Wednesday and beyond.

“We had a good senior players meeting on Monday and we’re looking forward to getting our unit from our win against the Lions back together, possibly with a tweak here or there.

“We’ll be looking to put in our best performance – and our best performance is based on a good attitude – both on Wednesday against the Cobras and in the following two matches of this four-match road trip.”

The Hollywoodbets Dolphins next home clash is against the Multiply Titans at Sahara Stadium Kingsmead on Wednesday 30 November at 18h00 while the much anticipated doubleheader fixture in Durban between the Lions and Warriors as well as the Dolphins’ return showdown with the Cape Cobras takes place on Sunday 4 December.

Tickets can be purchased from the stadium’s ticket office or online via www.ticketpro.co.za from as little as just R30.
