Dolphins out to end 4-Day Series on a high – Featured Durban Blog

Dolphins out to end 4-Day Series on a high:

Durban – Following their exit at the semi-final stage of the recent CSA T20 challenge, the Hollywoodbets Dolphins will hope to end their 4-Day Domestic Series campaign with a win when they face the Gbets Rocks in Paarl starting on Friday.

The Dolphins have had bad luck throughout the 4-Day series with just one match reaching its conclusion and a number of them being influenced by weather; however the Dolphins remain the only unbeaten side in the competition.

“We were disappointed in our inconsistency during the T20 competition and felt that our powerplay batting let us down,” coach Imraan Khan said.

“We bowled nicely and our middle order batted well and that’s what kept us in games but it was a good competition.

“The boys are keen to get back into some red ball cricket this week and are looking forward to taking on the Rocks, the team that won the T20 Challenge.

“They are always a tough side to play against and have some really good players and Adrian Birrell their coach has been around the block.”

It will be the first time that the sides have met in the 4-Day Series this season and the Dolphins sit just one place above the Rocks in fourth place on the table and despite overall honours in the competition being beyond their reach there is still a lot to play for.

“You obviously want to finish as high as you possibly can in any competition and with the Rocks behind us there is a lot of motivation to do well this week.

“It’s going to be the first time we’ve played in Paarl this season and that’s going to be a challenge, but an exciting one for the guys.

“With promotion and relegation there are important points up for grabs based on the position that you finished on the log so there’s no game where you can just go through the motions.

“We’ve not lost a game in the competition so that is something for the guys to protect and some motivation for us heading down to Paarl,” Khan added.

Excitingly for the Dolphins they will have the services of Proteas batsman Keegan Petersen as he gets in final preparation for the upcoming test series against Bangladesh.
