31 October 2016 by Alan

Dolphins & Knights draw in Durban:

Imran Tahir and Senuran Muthusamy finished with four wickets apiece as the rain-affected Sunfoil Series clash between the Hollywoodbets Dolphins and VKB Knights ended in a draw at Sahara Stadium Kingsmead on Sunday.?

2016muthusamywicket500Only 27.4 overs were bowled on the final day, with the visitors first bowled out for 221, before the hosts replied with 12/1 – a lead of 102.

The round four encounter was the clash of the top two before the start, but less than 200 overs were bowled, including the second day washed out.

The Knights began day four on 176/6, but Standard Bank Proteas star Tahir claimed two of the wickets to fall to end with 4/69 in his first match of the season.

Muthusamy produced figures of 4/57 after taking the other two wickets, including that of top-scorer Rudi Second for 76 (167 balls, 10 fours, 1 six).

The Dolphins then lost Imraan Khan (7) with what proved to be the penultimate ball of the game as they walked away with 8.42 points.

The Knights took 6.42 points from the game as they dropped to second behind the champion Multiply Titans.

The Hollywoodbets Dolphins’ Sunfoil Series fifth round clash against the Buildnat Cape Cobras takes place at Boland Park, Paarl from 3-6 November before the Franchise domestic focus switches to T20 action with the start of the CSA T20 Challenge next week.

Dolphins fall short against Titans:

Rowan Richards and Malusi Siboto shared six wickets as the Multiply Titans roared back from their tough start to the season with an innings and 38-run victory over the in-form Hollywoodbets Dolphins late on day three at SuperSport Park in Centurion on Saturday.

2016zondo450Having built a 225-run first-innings lead earlier in the day, the hosts then bowled their visitors out for 187 in 65.2 overs.

Richards ended as the pick of the bowlers with 3/37, while Siboto added 3/46. Lungi Ngidi (2/48) completed a memorable franchise debut with two more wickets for a match haul of 7/87.

Khaya Zondo was the only batsman to offer any fight with his unbeaten 68 (101 balls, 11 fours) as the Dolphins were brought back down to earth following successive wins in the opening two rounds.

Earlier in the day, the Titans lost their last five wickets for 53 runs. Robbie Frylinck (2/46) picked up two of the wickets to end as the most successful bowler for the KZN outfit.

However, their batting then imploded against the champions, who secured their first win of the season and took 19.72 points with the victory. The Dolphins managed just 4.14.
