Dolphins expecting tough task at Centurion:
Durban – Following their good win over the VKB Knights a fortnight ago, the Hollywoodbets Dolphins travel to SuperSport Park to face the Multiply Titans in their next 4-Day Domestic Series match starting on Sunday.
The Dolphins currently occupy top spot in Pool B just ahead of the Knights and will head to Centurion for this cross-pool clash with confidence and two Proteas heavier with the return of Andile Phehlukwayo and Keshav Maharaj.
With both sides able to call on their Proteas stars, Dolphins coach Imraan Khan is expecting a good game of cricket.
“I think it’s going to be an exciting match with two strong sides on offer,” he said. “Having Keshav and Andile back in our squad doesn’t pose a selection headache but it’s one that we are not disappointed in having.
“We are playing good cricket at the moment and I want us to just focus on our processes and the rest will take care of itself.
“The boys have enjoyed this little period off after back-to-back games and are looking forward to trying to replicate their home form away from home.”
The Proteas test squad for their series against Sri Lanka was announced on Friday which sees Keegan Petersen, Keshav Maharaj and Sarel Erwee all in the squad; it’s a first national call-up for Erwee. The squad will only assemble on 19 December so they will all be available for this round of fixtures.
The Dolphins top six have all been in the runs at various stages of the competition which is something that Khan is pleased about.
“We are happy that the guys that have to score us the runs are in good form and let’s hope that that can continue when we take on the Titans.
“It’s a good sign for us and the guys are playing as a unit and feeding off each other with is great to see.”
The Titans have relied heavily on Aiden Markram for their runs this season and although the focus won’t be on the opposition Khan’s side will go into the match well prepared.
“We will do our homework on the Titans but we’ve played against these guys a lot over the years. They are outstanding cricketers, there’s no doubt about that.
“It’s the type of game that as a team we are excited about because we want to continue to show our growth in four-day cricket and challenge ourselves against the best.
“This is the perfect opportunity to put up our hands and play some good cricket.”
