Dezzi South Coast Raceway to host season finale

4 September 2015 by Alan

Just a year ago National Superbike Championship racing returned to KwaZulu-Natal after a 25-year absence. On Saturday, 19 September 2015 the DEOD SuperGP Champions Trophy will return to the province, this time to the recently opened Dezzi South Coast Raceway near Port Shepstone.

With three of the four championships still to be decided, William Friend secured the inaugural SuperJunior title at the last round. There will be close action at the 2.8-kilometre circuit which is characterised by steep elevation changes.

Owned by Des and Louise Gutzeit, the circuit overlooks Oslo Beach. It has been built using part of a runway which evolved to include facilities for drifting. Extensions to turn the facility into a fully-fledged racing circuit, the only permanent one in KwaZulu-Natal, were completed earlier this year and a number of very successful events have already proved to be a hit with local race fans.

The riders will be out on the circuit on Friday, 18 September to familiarize themselves with the new circuit during the official practice sessions. Qualifying and two races for each category – SuperGP/SuperM, Super600 and SuperJunior – will take place on the Saturday.

Tickets, which cost just R70.00, are available online at TicketPro and can be purchased at the gate.
