Clean Audit for KZN Public Works

Statement by Sithembiso Ngema – DA KZN Provincial Leader:

The DA in KwaZulu-Natal congratulates and celebrates MEC for Public Works and Infrastructure, the DA’s Martin Meyer and his Department, for its clean audit, announced by the Auditor General, for the first time in the department’s existence.

Where the DA leads, we ensure that taxpayer money is carefully spent on delivery of services, and building infrastructure, in an accountable way.

This Clean Audit shows that public funds are being managed properly, and the principles of the rule of law are being upheld – under a DA MEC.

We celebrate this achievement and the department for showing KwaZulu-Natal and South Africa what good governance under the DA can deliver.

The Department has announced that this is the first Clean Audit on record for them, which is an excellent achievement under the DA MEC.

When MEC Meyer took office two years ago, one of his key priorities was the attainment of a Clean Audit, by enforcing stringent financial controls – and the DA congratulates him on achieving what he promised.

This is the DA difference, and it is the same DA difference we can offer to people at local government level when the DA comes into government after the November Local Government Elections.
