The Municipal Spokesperson, Mr Thabo Mofokeng has issued a statement to clarify the miscommunication of the rates rebate in the article titled “Rates rebate blow for properties” published in the Mercury on 19 March 2014.
Mofokeng said; “It should be noted that the matter is only at this stage a proposal for discussed and would still need to go through Council processes for approval. If approved the registration of a rates rebate for residential property owners only will be implemented in July 2015. Customers will be informed in due course on the process of the registration for a rates rebate.”
