Chatsworth Youngster Shines with Bat and Ball at U17 RPC Week – Featured Durban Blog

9 April 2018 by My Durban

Chatsworth Youngster Shines with Bat and Ball at U17 RPC Week:

Prealin Naidu’s father introduced him to cricket when he was five years old. He took an instant liking to the game, and his father told him to persevere and work hard at it. Prealin took his advice, and it’s paying off.

The Grade 12 Kharwastan Secondary School learner shone with both bat and ball at the recently held Standard Bank Regional Performance Centre (RPC) National U17 Week which came to a close in Pretoria on Friday.

KZN RPC won all four of its matches at the week. In the first match, a fifty over fixture against Eastern Province RPC, Prealin, a top order batsman made 41 runs. In the second match (time cricket) against Northerns RPC, he took five wickets for twenty runs in nine overs. The team’s third match was a fifty over fixture against Boland RPC, and Prealin made an unbeaten 65, and in the final T20 match against Free State RPC he made 48 runs, following this up with two wickets for twenty runs in four overs.

“Prealin has a bright future ahead of him,” says Darryll Govender, KZN RPC coach. “He is a hardworking and dedicated individual who has played a vital role in the RPC. Players across the age groups look up to him and aspire to be like him. We are all very confident that he will take the step up and make many more representative teams in the future.”

Ritesh Ramjee, the cricket services manager at KZNCU echoed these sentiments: “Prealin has done KZN Cricket, his parents and his school proud by excelling during the week, during which he was one of the standout performers. He has tremendous abilities with both bat and ball and is definitely one for the future.” – Fatima Asmal
