The Cell C Sharks Under 21s will be looking to secure a place in the top four this Friday when they host the Golden Lions in their SA Rugby Under 21 Championship match on KP2 at Growthpoint KINGS PARK.After losing 39-33 to Free State in their previous match, the pressure is on to remain in fourth spot on the log, with Free State trailing behind by two points with the final round of matches to be played this weekend.“I felt we were really unlucky last week, we played for 45 minutes with seven forwards after suffering a red card,” explains coach Paul Anthony.“We appealed the card which has since been replaced by a yellow card, and despite losing, I really felt that we were the better team. We would have qualified for the semis last week had we won, so this week becomes a must-win match.
“The Lions will come here also wanting to win because they’re looking to finish in second spot which would give them a home semi. This is a match where both teams want to get the points, so it’s going to be hugely competitive and physical. But we have a lot of self-belief, our set-piece has improved.
“This is a big match for both sides, we know it’s four points or nothing and we’re going to give everything to get the points.”
The Cell C Sharks Under 19s cannot qualify for the semi-finals with the last round of matches remaining in the SA Rugby Under 19 Championship, but will be playing for pride and hoping to finish on a high against a Lions side that has already sewn up second spot on the log.
The Under 19s match kicks off at 12 noon on Friday with the Under 21s battling it out at 1.45pm.
