Cell C Sharks Tour Squad to Hong Kong – Featured Durban Blog

29 January 2018 by Alan

Cell C Sharks Tour Squad to Hong Kong:

After a fairly comprehensive 31-14 defeat of the Vodacom Bulls in Saturday’s warm-up match, the Cell C Sharks squad has departed for Hong Kong to take on French side Racing 92 in our final preparation match, ahead of the start of Vodacom Super Rugby 2018.

Cameron Wright scored a first half try, with the teams going into the half-time break at seven apiece. However four second half tries, two to newly signed Makazole Mapimpi and one each for Marius Louw and Jacques Vermeulen saw us take a well-deserved win out of the match and confidence ahead of our clash with Racing 92 in the Natixis Cup challenge.

The touring squad comprises 26 players, with hooker Akker van der Merwe (shoulder niggle) and scrumhalf Louis Schreuder (hamstring) not traveling with the team, due to injuries picked up in the warm-up match on Saturday.

The match will be played at Aberdeen Sports Ground in Hong Kong on Saturday, 3rd February, and will pit a former Cell C Sharks favourite Pat Lambie against his former side (should he be selected to play for the club he joined in 2017).
