Celebrate the Month of Love With These Epic KZN South Coast Outdoor Adventures

11 February 2025 by My Durban

It’s time to try something different this February by celebrating the great outdoors with that special someone. This Valentine’s Day, reconnect with that significant other by reconnecting with nature on the scenic KZN South Coast – where memorable hikes, sunset swims, and deep-sea diving await!

“It’s time to break the mould this February by showing you care for that special someone with something different!” commented Dr Vusumuzi Sibiya, CEO of South Coast Tourism and Investment Enterprise (SCTIE). “Now’s the time to celebrate your love for each other – and your love for nature – with a completely unique outdoor adventure on the KZN South Coast – where unlimited adventure meets romance!”

Ride or drive in nature

For couples wanting a luxurious connection with nature (without too much physical exertion!) there’s the option of a game drive through Lake Eland Game Reserve in Oribi Gorge. This African gem is also home to the thrilling 80m suspension bridge, zipline tour, and great hiking and biking routes.

There’s nothing like a romantic horseback ride along the beach to celebrate Valentine’s Day! Couples can head to Trafalgar Beach, one of the KZN South Coast’s many Blue Flag beaches (boasting the highest number in KZN!) where Selsdon Park Estate offers horseback excursions. These traverse the beaches before heading into farmlands and coastal forests.

At Aliwal Shoal, visitors can also get an up-close experience with apex predators of the sea with an epic shark cage diving experience.
