Carol with Cate Blanchett – Featured Durban Blog

6 January 2016 by Alan

Carol with Cate Blanchett: I haven’t been to the cinema in ages. There’s honestly not been anything showing that had me motivated to go. But I do love an outing to the big screen – getting the biggest box of popcorn and a slush puppie AND sweets when I’m there, makes it such a decadent visit 😉 So I’ve been keeping an eye out for what’s going to be released in December and saw this movie – Carol – with Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara and have put it firmly on my must-see movie list. I will absolutely watch anything with Cate Blanchett in it – she’s mesmerising – let’s call it a girl crush… In Carol she’s paired with Rooney Mara – another one of my favourites from The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo trilogy –  and the movie turns a novel by Patricia Highsmith set in the 1950’s, into what’s been touted as an exceptionally beautiful film, with a career-best performance from Cate – it’s already got 5  nominations and has won this year at Cannes and the New York Film Critics Awards. Cannot wait to see it! It opens in Ster Kinekor cinemas in SA on Wednesday 16th December – watch the trailer here – the 50’s era is […]

Lindt + Gateway = Chocolate Coma: But I’m not complaining! I died and went to chocolate heaven this week at the new LINDT Chocolate Boutique which opened at Gateway. Yeah yeah, chocolate boutique sounds super fancy, but it really is deserving of this name – it’s like nothing in Durban folks – pyramids of delicious flavoured LINDOR chocolate balls and shelves groaning with all the different slabs, bears, bunnies and more – most of it stuff I’ve never seen before  – it’s a sensory as well as gustatory overload! The store is not just SA’s biggest Lindt store, but it also contains the largest LINDOR pick and mix station in Africa, where you can choose your own combination of LINDOR chocolate balls – 100g costs just R39.99. I went a bit dilly when they said go for it, so everyone in my family is getting LINDOR balls in their christmas stockings! YOU COULD WIN: Visit the new Durban store at Gateway and spend more than R100 between 10th & 31st December and be entered into a lucky draw where you stand a chance of winning a trip for 2 to Switzerland! The winner will be chosen on 8th Jany and will be announced on the Lindt SA FB page as well as in store. Thanks […]
