Busy winter period for Dolphins stars:
Durban – Following the recent squad announcements by Cricket South Africa, a number of Hollywoodbets Dolphins players will tour the West Indies and Ireland with the national squad while a couple of players will represent SA ‘A’ on their tour in Zimbabwe.
Six Dolphins players have been selected to tour the Caribbean across both the test squad and the T20 squad, highlighted by a maiden Proteas call-up for 27-year-old Prenelan Subrayen for the two test series.
Amongst the others selected in the test squad are spinner Keshav Maharaj and the uncapped pair of Keegan Petersen and Sarel Erwee, both of who have been involved in the Proteas set-up before.
In the T20 International squad the regulars David Miller and Andile Phehlukwayo will be involved hoping to get in valuable game-time before the players begin their final preparation for the T20 World Cup at the end of the year.
The Proteas then head to the Emerald Isle for a three T20 and three ODI tour with a squad that includes Miller and Phehlukwayo along with Maharaj.
“We are really excited to see so many of our players receiving these call-ups,” coach Imraan Khan said.
“The hard-work that they put in along with the strong performances on the field has led to these selections and we wish them well on their tours this winter.
“We want to continue to produce Proteas and with these guys taking that next step I hope it will encourage our next generation to continue to push for higher honours.”
Proteas one day international player Daryn Dupavillon will also be busy in the winter when he joins the SA ‘A’ team that will travel to Zimbabwe for four 50-over matches and two four-day games.
Dupavillon has been selected in both the white and red ball squads for that tour while Andile Phehlukwayo has been chosen in the 50-over squad for the series.
For CEO of KZN Cricket Heinrich Strydom it’s a testament to all the hard work on and off the field that there are seven players across both the Proteas and SA ‘A’ squads.
“Watching these players work so hard on their game has made this possible,” Strydom said. “It’s an inspiration having so many players making that step up to the national side and as a Union we want to continue to produce players that can win games for South Africa.
“We want to wish both the Proteas and SA ‘A’ good luck for their respective tours and appreciate that international cricket can take place given the current situation.”
