Boasting a line-up of South Africa’s best bands, hottest extreme sports’ action and showcasing custom bikes and accessories, the 2017 South Coast Bike Fest #SCBF2017 is looking to attract massive crowds to Margate Beach from 27 to 30 April, making this an ideal platform for traders.
“This year’s bike festival site has been increased to double the size of previous years so there is ample room for trading and so much choice for visitors,” said event organiser, Vicky Wentzel. “This will be a really useful platform for traders to interact directly with an active buying market. We’re also anticipating a number of visitors coming in from outside provinces which will introduce a whole new customer base to traders.”
There are extensive trading opportunities for all custom-made bike products and dealerships and, for the first time this year, the event is open to all brands and dealers. The festival’s exhibition decks provide the perfect stand for showcasing all manner of machines. They are carefully constructed onto the rocks with the Indian Ocean as an enticing backdrop.
There is also availability for bespoke food trucks; winemakers who can form part of the #SCBF2017 wine deck as well as craft beer suppliers wanting to participate in the Craft Beer and Craft Distillery section.
Wentzel said that large crowds are expected to descend on Margate for the South Coast Bike Fest, which falls on a long weekend. Organisers have managed to secure some 35 leading South African musical acts to play at the #fuelyourfun Carling Main Beach Stage as well as the Beach Pier Village Rock Stage. Drawing in the crowds will be Freshlyground, Prime Circle, Just Jinjer, Matthew Mole, Die Heuwels Fantasties, Gangs of Ballet, Majozi, Jack Parrow, Fokoffpolisikar and PJ Powers. For heavy metal music lovers, the Energy Stage & Bar will feature top DJs with refreshments in the form of Red Bull cocktails.
The Classic Motorcycle Museum will definitely hit the right note with those attending #SCBF2017 while the abundant Mardi Gras Market is also not to be missed.
There’s also lots to keep the high-energy extreme sports’ enthusiasts happy. The #SCBF2017 Gravity Clash Action Sport’s Show will see the country’s most daring bikers, including the likes of Nick de Wit and Brian Capper, performing incredible two-wheeled choreographed manoeuvres. Young skateboarders and BMX riders are also invited to bring their bikes and boards to the event as they will get the opportunity to practice their own tricks on the various ramps during the ‘free play hours’.
In addition, the Powasol team is bringing the first round of the epic Powasol EnduroX Series to the South Coast Bike Fest on 30 April. South Africa’s top enduro, motocross, trials and fun riders will be taking to the start line on everything from an 85cc to a 500cc between 7am and 3pm. Leading riders including Wade Young (Sherco Factory Rider), Kyle Flanagan (Proudly Bidvest Yamaha), Blake Gutzeit (Proudly Bidvest Yamaha) and Scott Bouverie (Brother Leadertread KTM) will be participating in this action-packed event. Staged on the Margate fishing pier, this unbelievable track will be constructed by legendary South African MX star, Brett Redman.
Organisers have also ensured that those coming from afar will be easily accommodated with more than 5 000 beds available within the festival site, from four-star hotels to affordable self-catering units, with many of them offering special packages of a free fourth night. However, beds are filling up quickly, so it would be wise to book accommodation early.
All visitors can also be assured of their safety and security from accommodation venues within Margate to the festival site as private security will be working in tandem with the South African Police Service monitoring the area. The festival site is also strictly a ‘weapons free zone’.
Although there are more stands for the 2017 fixture, spaces are being booked quickly with only six elevated decks, four Pop-up Food Court stands, 20 Village Market stands and limited exhibition decks still available.
For those planning on attending the four-day #SCBF2017 as visitors, entrance is free, however, no person will have access without completing an online pre-registration to further enhance security. Tickets to the #fuelyourfun Carling Main Beach Stage are also available at www.quicket.co.za at a cost of R130 per day or R200 for the cocktail bar day pass. For a VIP four-day pass the cost is R360. Children under 12 enter free.
