Big day three needed by Dolphins in East London

East London – A day of mixed fortunes on Tuesday for the Hollywoodbets Dolphins sees them with a big day ahead of them at Buffalo Park in East London in their CSA 4-Day Franchise Series clash with the Warriors.

The Warriors continued where they finished day one with Matthew Breetzke and Sinethemba Qeshile taking the hosts from 325 for five to 344 before Breetzke fell for 58, caught by the keeper Grant Roelofsen off the bowling of Eathan Bosch.

Qeshile and Sisanda Magala put on 92 for the seventh wicket and the former was the final wicket to fall for 75 before Jon-Jon Smuts declared the innings closed on 436 for seven.

Of the seven wickets to fall Keith Dudgeon, Eathan Bosch and Prenelan Subrayen all picked up two wickets each with one run out.

Debutant Michael Erlank scored 14 for the Dolphins before he was caught by keeper Qeshile off the bowling of Glendon Stuurman.

Sarel Erwee continued on from his fifty in the previous game with another half century at Buffalo Park.

The left-handed opener and Marques Ackerman added 110 for the second wicket before Erwee was dismissed for 66.

With the score on 139, captain Khaya Zondo was dismissed for four – the third wicket to fall.

Unfortunately for the Dolphins Sibz Makhanya was dismissed for seven leaving the visitors 156 for four, still 280 runs adrift.

Ackerman and Senuran Muthusamy put on 42 runs for the fifth wicket before Ackerman fell 16 runs short of a second century in two weeks.

Grant Roelofsen came in and scored quickly, however he fell for 24 off 18 balls with the score on 230.

Right at the close the Dolphins lost Bosch for 26. His partnership with Muthusamy was worth 39.

Muthusamy and Prenelan Subrayen will continue for the Dolphins at the start of day three with the Dolphins on 269 for seven, trailing the Warriors by 167 runs.
