Big boost for African Warriors cricket team after 14 sixes hit – Featured Durban Blog

Big boost for African Warriors cricket team after 14 sixes hit:

On 4 December 2016 Hollywoodbets hosted the African Warriors cricket club from KwaMashu as their special guests at a double-header of T20 matches at Sahara Stadium Kingsmead.

2016hbafwar500African Warriors had the privilege of being chosen as the fourth Hollywoodbets cricket development club which entitles them to a baseline donation of R5 000 including R200 for every six hit during the match, and R2 000 should the ball land on the purple Hollywoodbets branded roof.

Courtesy of fourteen sixes hit during the Dolphins match, including one that landed on the purple roof, they will receive a R9 600 donation towards the club’s running costs.

Leslie M. Moeti, African Warriors Cricket Club Manager, is excited about the positive impact this donation will have on the club going forward. “Our club is home to four teams and we are battling to survive with the cost of gear and transport.”

“Many of our players do not have the money to be able to come to practice or attend matches.

“Ninety percent of our players live in townships and they can’t afford to buy cricket boots, you see the guys and ladies play with the same old torn boots every season.

“This financial assistance from Hollywoodbets will go a long way to bring us some relief.

“We were also incredibly happy to be able to support the Dolphins live because four former Warriors form part of this fantastic team,” he said.

Zolisa Diki, Corporate Social Investment Coordinator at Hollywoodbets, was thrilled to see the children enjoy their time at the match. “This was a great day of cricket action and the kids definitely loved seeing these professional players on the field.

“We are proud to support this club as part of our T20 Cricket Development campaign and we wish them all the best with producing great future players!” she said.

For each T20 match played in Durban the company will feature one development cricket team from the Greater Durban area as their cricket development club. The chosen club will receive free tickets to a match at Sahara Stadium Kingsmead, transport to and from the match, #DolFanArmy T-shirts and caps as well as a meal. On top of that they will also receive a financial contribution of R5 000 as well as an additional R200 for every six hit during the match!
