bela to Celebrate women in the Built Environment with Estee Lauder

30 July 2023 by My Durban
  • Book now for the 3 August panel discussion
  • Gqeberha based women breaking the construction ceiling
  • Women’s Month Celebrations get really interesting

August heralds women’s month – on the one side we will have men saying that it is not fair and on the other side women saying that every day is mens day anyway.

BUT, to this scribes pithy mind I can honestly say that women deserve the recognition and, as per normal, I say that from a really selfish perspective as the more women we can introduce to the world of work and especially the world of construction then the better we will all be for it.

Those arguments about how women are unable to do the physical work pale into insignificance and, frankly, are indicative of just how small some mens minds can be when all they can focus on is the testorone filled component of any form of work. When last did you actually break a sweat at work and just what percentage of that was in physically demanding work that ONLY a man could do?

I thought so!

bela – Built Environment Ladies Association – is a Gqeberha based womans association highlighting the many capable women in the construction field. NO, not just secretaries and PA’s but real women doing real jobs of substance.

In celebration of Women’s Month the bela group are hosting a panel discussion between 5 women – each from a specific decade – on Thursday evening 3 August, for a fun evening to celebrate Women’s Month and meet some like-minded ladies! These inspirational women, will share their experiences from their careers from across the Built Environment and over many years.

Estee Lauder will be showcasing some of their products and ‘goodies’ at the bela event, and there are some lovely raffle prizes up for grabs:

  • a R600 voucher from Blow Hair Co.,
  • a hand and foot pamper from Ilze Tesnar Beauty Salon, and
  • a beautiful utensil from Carrol Boyes with which to entertain your guests.

Don’t miss out – Register for this fun event at www.bela.org.za/events before Monday evening!

The Panel discussion will be facilitated by journalist Alan Straton of #MyPR
