Are You Ready For The Wine On Water Festival In St Francis?
St Francis Canals – The Wine on Water Festival sponsored by Investec is fast approaching, and although there are no more tickets, there are still some details to be filled in on what looks set to be the event of the year in St Francis.
The dates for the Wine on Water Festival are Friday 27th and Saturday 28th March 2020. The actual wine tasting starts at 12 midday on both days and ends as the sun goes down.
Access bands control admittance to the event, and those lucky people who managed to get tickets for the inaugural event can pick theirs up on Thursday 26th as well as Friday 27th morning at Quaysyde, before the festival starts. Ticket holders must bring their Quicket confirmation to get their bands.
There are 20 amazing houses on the canals that will serve as the wine tasting stations, and revellers will be escorted on water-borne taxis to the various tasting stations to enjoy samples from the different wine estates. Woodlands Dairy will supply the snacks at each station.
The wine farms and estates include Schultz Family Wines, Longridge, Ken Forrester Wines, Grangehurst Winery, Highlands Road Estate, De Grendel Wine Estate, Bergkelder Vinoteque, Cedarberg Wines, Babylonstoren, Chamonix, Highlands Road, Le Lude, Luka, Mellasat, Hogan Wines, Newton Johnson, Tokara and Warwick Estates. Joining the party will be Muti Gin Distillery, as well as One33 Rum distillery.
“Wine on Water is a unique wine tasting event that has been put together by our Rotary Club of St Francis,” said Rotary member and WoW event organiser Paul Sherman.
“Twenty prestigious wine estates on the decks of twenty prestigious homes on the beautiful St Francis Bay canals was attraction enough for wine lovers to buy out the event. Response from homeowners hosting the event and wine estates has been overwhelmingly positive, as also by all parties involved. We do not doubt that this event will be the talk of the wine tasting festivals in the country and that we will continue to sell out the event each year.”
Sherman also noted the Wine on Water festival is primarily a charity event.
“All proceeds from ticket sales, net of the overhead costs for the event, are allocated to our many deserving community projects,” said Sherman. “These projects, managed by our Rotary Club, include Talhado School, Sea Vista Primary School, Disneyland Creche, Sea Vista Medical Clinic, NSRI, Foster and the Kromme Environmental Trust, to name a few.”
At sunset during the two-day festival, the second shift kicks off at Quaysyde, where the will be live music as well as food, wine, craft beer and other drinks on sale. The Grosvenor Road Band are going to be performing, and the party will be on! Food that will be available is pizza from Quaysyde, calamari from the Cape St Francis Resort food stand, prego rolls from the Yellow Café food truck and Gavin’s Sushi.
TCS Wifi will establish a free high-speed hotspot at the hub for free, uninterrupted internet for festival-goers to upload images, video clips, selfies and even broadcast live. It’s going to be a world of fun.
