Ikasi Experience is a township based market that celebrates the local culture and entrepreneurial spirit of South Africans. Ikasi Experience provides a platform for trade and economic growth in a safe, entertaining and engaging environment.

Founded by GoodHope FM and club DJ, DJ Loyd (real name Loyiso Mdebuka) and Vincent Manzini, Ikasi Experience aims to give vendors an opportunity to show off their wares while embracing a culture of celebrating township life. The event allows young entrepreneurs to meet and engage and gives talent a platform while bringing together South Africans to celebrate what the township and its people have to offer.

The events have been hosted in Cape Town since their inception in 2012 and has seen an increase in interest as well as attendance with a steady growth year on year. Ikasi Experience is now venturing out of the Mother City toDurban on Saturday the 21st of November at Eyadini in Umlazi and East London on Sunday the 6th of December at Victoria Rose Stadium, Mdantsane.

DJ Loyd considers himself a social entrepreneur with a vision to celebrate the great South African entrepreneurial spirit and through his company IKapa LIVE created the event and begun hosting them in Khayelitsha. He always meant to take the initiative out of his hometown of Cape Town and this marks the first time for Ikasi Experience. Both Durban and East London are in for a treat.

Ikasi Experience is made up of four elements;

Ikasi Vendors – a market consisting of vendors selling various foods, arts & crafts, clothing, beauty and general township based services.

Ikasi Bright Ideas – a business idea pitching session that sees township based entrepreneurs pitch their bright ideas to win cash and support.

Ikasi Has Talent – a talent show featuring township talent from all walks of life.

Ikasi Diski – a 5-a-side soccer tournament
