On Wednesday, 7 January 2014 members of Durban Flying Squad Narcotic Task Team arrested a 43-year-old male for possession of heroin in Unit 2, Chatsworth. It is alleged that members received information about a man who was dealing in heroine in the area, they suddenly act on information given and observed the said house. They swooped in the house and asked permission to search the house, upon searching 1000 straws of heroine with a street value of R25 000 were found in the bedroom. The suspect was immediately placed under arrest.
On the same day members received information of a male carrying a blue plastic bag containing drugs at Bottlebrush in Chatsworth. They proceeded to the said place and noticed a male fitting the same description. The male ran away when he saw the police and he dropped a plastic with 2000 straws of heroine, 150 pieces of rock cocaine and . 38 special revolver with to live rounds of ammunition. The members chased him but he managed to get away. The seized firearm will be taken to ballistic tasting to ascertain if it was used in the commission of crime in the country. The arrested suspect appeared at Chatsworth Magistrates’ Court yesterday, 8 January 2015.
The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni commended the members for the arrest and seizure of drugs.
