KWAZULU-NATAL – On Friday, 14 August 2026, members of the Hawks from Pietermaritzburg Serious Organised Crime Investigation arrested a 47-year-old suspect for dealing in drugs on White Road in Pietermaritzburg.
The Hawks received intelligence about a man driving a silver VW T-Cross with a KZN registration number allegedly selling drugs to individuals consuming alcohol at Tarven. The team immediately conducted a disruptive operation and proceeded to the said location. They observed a vehicle matching the description parked on White Roar opposite Tarven. Police saw an individual approaching the driver of VW T-Cross with a clear exchange of money and a small white substance taking place. The team immediately approached the vehicle and requested permission to search it.
During the search, 18 zip lock bags containing cocaine were found in the suspect’s possession. A further 42 zip lock bags of cocaine were discovered in the compartment beneath the driver’s seat. The Hawks seized the drugs with an estimated street value of R55 200.00. The vehicle was also impounded for further investigation. The suspect was placed under arrest and charged with dealing in drugs. He is expected to appear before Pietermaritzburg Magistrate’s Court today,17 August 2026.
The KwaZulu-Natal Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation Acting Provincial Head, Brigadier Zenobia Mulligan welcomed the arrest and extolled the members for the good work.
