Action Time Again – Featured Durban Blog

23 November 2020 by My Durban

Action Time Again:

There is a real sense of excitement at Jonsson Kings Park as the Cell C Sharks players now shift their focus to the Carling Currie Cup which kicks off against the Phakisa Pumas in Durban on Friday evening.

It is a competition steeped in tradition and history. The Cell C Sharks have a proud record over the last few decades with numerous titles under the belt and they have a desire to showcase their talents and to prove what quality and class head coach Sean Everitt has at his disposal and what the players are able to produce on the field as they have shown throughout the season in a difficult year.

The team is re-energized and raring to go, and are looking to kick-off the competition on a high note.

After finishing tie second with the Stormers on the Vodacom Super Rugby Unlocked table the Cell C Sharks will take a lot of confidence into the Carling Currie Cup competition.

The Vodacom Bulls came out on top courtesy of their victory over the Pumas on the weekend to be crowned champions while the Stormers and Sharks match was called off and the teams each given two points

Earlier in the competition the Cell C Sharks defeated the Pumas 42-19 in their Super Rugby Unlocked match at Mbombela Stadium and go into this match holding out great hope of another good victory.

They have had time to build and have played some entertaining and enterprising rugby although the Pumas have been a thorn in the side of teams in recent years and they will come to Durban with great hope of upsetting the applecart.

Everitt has used every opportunity to grow his squad and rotation has allowed every player within the group to gain valuable game time, providing depth in every position.

All log points from Vodacom Super Rugby Unlocked will be carried into the competition featuring the same seven teams with the final set to be played on Saturday, 23 January 2021.

Have you tried: Visiting Port Elizabeth?

Quick Durban KwaZulu-Natal Fact: Durbanites are pretty laid-back and we think it’s because we live at a slower pace than bigger cities caught up in concrete jungles and rat races. This means we’re more patient, more involved with our families and have more time to enjoy our city. This combination makes us quite a friendly and helpful bunch.
