17 April 2015 by Alan

Durban – Two children have been killed and at least 13 others injured when the SUV they were travelling in overturned on the R617 in Howick, KwaZulu-Natal, on Thursday, paramedics said.

The driver lost control of the vehicle and it rolled down an embankment, ER24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasing said.

He was transporting children home from several schools.

“When ER24 paramedics and other services arrived on scene they found children, several of them who were ejected from the vehicle and believed to be between the ages of four and seven, lying all over the scene.

“Unfortunately there was nothing paramedics could do for two of the children.”

Three children were critically injured.

Others had minor to serious injuries, said Bodasing.

They were transported to various hospitals in the area.

The driver sustained minor injuries, she said.

The cause of the accident was not known.
