11 rescued in Ballito

7 April 2015 by Alan

NSRI Durban activated Ballito Specialised Rescue at 17h15, Monday, 06th April, to respond to Hole In The Wall, Salt Rock, where 11 young adults, males and females, aged in their early 20’s, were reportedly cut off from mainland by the Spring high tide and although reportedly in no imminent danger a request was made to get them back to mainland rather than to wait quite sometime before the Spring low tide would enable them to walk back to mainland.

NSRI Durban also dispatched a sea rescue vehicle and on arrival on the scene found that the Ballito Specialised Rescue members had set up a rope line and had brought all 11 people safely across without incident.

Although the 11 males and females were medically assessed by Netcare 911 paramedics there were no injuries and all were released requiring no further assistance.
